It is fortunate that nowadays more and more web designers are willing to develop and release quality WordPress themes for free to help you take your blog to next level. Today Darren Hoyt from his portfolio weblog released a second version of magazine style layout theme – Mimbo 2.0. It is a monochrome designed 2-column theme with light CSS and minimalism style. In fact, it is not bad comparing with Brian Gardner’s commercial theme. But we don’t need to pay any penny to create an online magazine site with the most popular blogging CMS platform on the internet.

Re: the simple monochrome style, it is definitely suited toward designers who want to take it and go nuts with colors and graphics. But since a lot of blog owners are not necessarily designers by trade, I will probably be offering an alternative Mimbo later this year which is much more polished and graphical.
